Compt Joe Anani Records ₦178 billionin Revenue; Handover Leadership to DC MIiko

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS )Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command, has welcome its new Controller in the person of Deputy Comptroller Nura Ibrahim Miko.

Miko officially assumed duty as the Acting Controller of the Command after his predecessor Comptroller Joe Anani was redeployed to TinCan Island Command.

During the handover ceremony held at the PTML Command, Compt Joe disclosed that the Command collected over ₦178 billion in revenue as at the time of his handing over.

Joe told the press that the figures underscores PTML’s growing profile as one of the Service’s high-performing Command.

He describes his eight-month tenure at PTML as an extraordinary privilege, acknowledging the pioneering role of his predecessor in rolling out the Unified Customs Management System, B’Odogwu, and initiating steps to address its early challenges.

“When I first walked into this role, I carried a clear mandate: to steer this Command through its modernization transition stage to a more stable state. After my predecessor saw to the successful rollout of B’Odogwu and began addressing its teething challenges, I came in and, with the support of my officers, sister agencies, and stakeholders, we took it to the next level. This achievement belongs to all of us,” he said.

In terms of Anti-Smuggling and Enforcement, Anani highlighted the Command’s has clear record of intercepting and handing over illicit drugs, arms, and ammunition to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons domiciled in the Office of the National Security Adviser.

He also pointed to key operational gains achieved under his watch, which includes the introduction of one-hour clearance for compliant vehicle imports.

Anani also emphasized that beyond the numbers, the Command succeeded in building a culture where every officer feels valued, motivated, and encouraged to drive higher levels of compliance. “None of these would have been possible without the dedication, creativity, and resilience of each and every one of you,” he added.

While addressing the officers and press, Miko pledged to run the Command on the principles of integrity, due process, and seamless trade facilitation, signaling a leadership style anchored on partnership and results.

He describes PTML as a well-organized and disciplined Command, and also commended the structure already in place his predecessor. He assured that his leadership would consolidate on the achievements and build a stronger foundation for sustained performance.

“I want you to know this: I am here to work with you, not merely to lead you. Under my watch, integrity will be non-negotiable. Trade facilitation will remain our priority. Due process will be strictly respected. Teamwork will be our greatest strength. Results will be achieved through collaboration, not fear. Together, we will take this Command to greater heights.”

The Acting Controller called for sustained cooperation and collaboration from all sister agencies and stakeholders operating within the Command.

He emphasized that efficient port operations thrive on inter-agency synergy, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to trade facilitation, revenue generation, and national security.

He thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for the confidence and trust reposed in him, reaffirming that the CGC’s policy thrust of Innovation, Consolidation, and Collaboration would guide operations at PTML as the Command writes its n ext chapter.
