NCS Oyo/Osun Command Generates 28Billion in 3Months; Intercepts Goods with DPV of 3Billion

The Acting Controller, Oyo/osun Area Command, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole has declared that the Command collected in revenue the sum of Twenty-Eight Billion, Five Hundred and Three Million, Three Hundred and Ninety-Three Thousand, Eight Hundred and Two Naira, Seventy-Five Kobo (₦28,503,393,802.75) between March and May 2026.

He said this during a press briefing at the Command’s headquarters On the 18th June, 2026, while stating that the figure represents an 8% increase when compared with the sum of Twenty-Six Billion, Two Hundred and Thirty-Three Million, Seven Hundred and Ninety-Six Thousand, Four Hundred and Ninety-Six Naira, Fifty-Seven Kobo (₦26,233,796,496.57) generated during the corresponding period in 2025.

He emphasized that the achievement reflects the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of his officers and men, as well as the cooperation of compliant stakeholders and members of the trading community; hence the Command remains resolute in its efforts to plug revenue leakages and ensure maximum revenue collection in accordance with extant laws and government policies.

“As part of our commitment to promoting excellence and rewarding outstanding performance, the Command will today present Commendation Awards to deserving officers and men who have distinguished themselves through exemplary conduct, exceptional dedication, and outstanding service delivery”.

“These awards are intended to recognize merit, encourage professionalism, and motivate officers and men to continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and service excellence. I heartily congratulate all award recipients and commend the entire workforce of the Oyo/Osun Area Command for their resilience and commitment”, he said.

DC Adewole assured the press that Oyo/Osun Area Command remains steadfast in the discharge of its statutory mandates of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and facilitation of legitimate trade, in line with the policy thrust and reform agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs.

He added that he is pleased to inform the press that through sustained intelligence-driven operations, enhanced collaboration with sister security agencies, and the dedication and professionalism of the officers and men of the Command, significant successes have been recorded in the anti-smuggling operations within the period under review.

Among the items intercepted were: Foreign Parboil Rice: 1537 (50kg Bags) ₦286,850,310.00k, Used Clothing 102 Bales,13 Sacks ₦217,520,888.00k, Used Shoes 56 Sacks ₦368,161,737.00k, Used Tyres 1,105 Pieces ₦204,486,399.00k, Used Compressor 462 Pieces ₦64,667,295.00k, Sugar 106 Bags ₦64,550,810.00k, Foreign Spaghetti 48 Cartons ₦3,298,240.00k, Foreign Macaroni 60 Packs ₦3,838,469.00k, Foreign Vegetables 505 Bottles ₦95,724,770.00k

Other Illicit drugs intercepted includes; Cannabis Sativa 1,769 Wraps ₦167,660,513.00k, Tramadol 250mg 2,158 Sachet ₦325,748,549.00k, Analgin Injection 4 Pieces ₦5,597,500.00k, Hiegra 300mg 4 Pieces ₦4,030,200.00k, Hiegra 200mg 4 Pieces k ₦89,560.00k, Mygra 200mg 4 Pieces ₦268,680.00k, Tramadol 250mg 3437 Packs ₦844,987,500.00k, Pharmaceuticals 142 Cartons ₦13,432,928.00k, Ice 2 Sachets ₦139,973.00k, Colorado 5 Wraps ₦466,575.00k, Canadian Laud 3 Wraps ₦1,399,732.00k, Rohypnol 1mg 20 Sachets ₦1,633,013.00k.

The Command also recorded seizures in cars which includes; Nissan Caravan (1) ₦32,842,875.00k, Mitsubishi Outlan (1) ₦36,632,438.00k, Equinox LT (1) ₦29,811,225.00k, GMC (1) ₦72,001,688.00k Opel Astra (1) ₦21,726,825.00k Toyota Corolla (1) ₦47,243,213.00k Fiat Tipper Truck (1) ₦101,055,000.00k Blue Galaxy Ford (1) ₦50,022,225.00k Toyota Hiace (3) ₦98,528,625.00k

Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) 604 (25 Liters kegs =15,100 Liters) ₦49,316,978.00k was also intercepted and 3 pump-action rifles ₦8,108,944.00k, was seized in connection with three suspects arrested and currently under investigation.

He added that the cumulative Duty Paid Value (DPV) of these seizures stands at Three Billion, Two Hundred and Twenty-One Million, Eight Hundred and Forty-Three Thousand, Six Hundred and Seventy-Two Naira (₦3,221,843,672.00K).

According to DC Adewole, “The Command is working closely with the Customs Intelligence Unit, Customs Police Unit, and the Legal Unit to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attempted smuggling of the firearms and to ensure that all persons connected with the unlawful act are brought to justice”.

“Furthermore, through effective intelligence gathering and collaboration with the Amotekun Corps in Ibadan, the Command apprehended another suspect involved in fraudulent activities and impersonation. The suspect allegedly defrauded unsuspecting members of the public by falsely claiming to facilitate recruitment into the Nigeria Customs Service in exchange for financial gratification. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.

“The Command wishes to reiterate that recruitment into the Nigeria Customs Service is transparent, merit-based, and conducted strictly through officially approved channels. Members of the public are therefore advised to be vigilant and disregard individuals who claim to offer employment opportunities in exchange for money”.

Adewole added that these interceptions have helped safeguard the nation’s economy, protect local industries, enhance public safety, and frustrate the activities of economic saboteurs and criminal elements.
